Woman's Health
Annette Parnell, PT, MS Education
In June of 2008, Annette joined Moffett Physical Therapy. Annette has pursued specializing in woman’s health, pelvic floor, and bladder therapy due to prevalence of issues in the patient population, as well as the unique challenges each case presents. Annette believes in a “hands on approach" and is working towards certification in manual therapy with the Institute of Physical Arts. What I do and why I love what I do: "I am a strong believer in manual physical therapy, treating these diagnoses have given me the opportunity to enhance my manual skills."• Pelvic Floor Pain • Coccydynia • Post Abdominal Surgery • Incontinence • Dyspareunia (Pain with Intercourse) • Vaginismus • Urinary Frequency Treatment: One-on-one training to learn how to perform a proper pelvic floor contraction (a.k.a. kegel)• Myofacial release • Viseral Mobilization • Electrical Stimulation • Dilator or vaginal weight tools • Coccyx Mobilization • Neuromuscular facilitation • Lumbopelvic and hip joint mobilization Uniqueness in Treatment: “This uniqueness gives me the ability to help women who do not realize that something can be done for these problems. Women have been living with these problems for too long. People in general are becoming more open and comfortable with talking about issues such as.... • Needing to wear pads for leaking • Running to the restroom • Episiotomy pain or dyspareunia after giving birth Physical therapy has become an alternative to correct these symptoms.” Related diagnosis: Low Back Pain, Sacroiliac Pain, Coccydynia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Hip Pain, and Tailbone Pain. |
